Over the past four decades, the Student of the Year Awards has served as an annual celebration of the incredible and diverse talents of students across Hong Kong.
The awards recognise excellence in all forms, including outstanding academic performance, talent in sports and the arts, dedication to community service, and transformative personal growth.
Through a rigorous selection process led by our expert panel, the aim is to honour the most deserving students across these categories for their hard work, determination and passion. In doing so, the Student of the Year Awards seeks to inspire students across the city to reach their full potential and strive for greatness in all aspects of their academic and personal development.
New for our 2024/25 cohort, we are thrilled to introduce our pioneering Student of the Year Growth Network.
This groundbreaking initiative connects all nominees with rich career resources offered by SCMP Learn corporate partners and former Student of the Year Award recipients.
By participating in the Growth Network, nominees will have the chance to meet and learn from successful figures in different fields, opening the door to knowledge sharing and career guidance, as well as personal and professional growth opportunities.
Our most recent awards ceremony was held on Saturday 12 July, 2025. The event brought together a diverse group of industry professionals, educators and students, with over 300 guests joining us for this memorable occasion, including our guest of honour Mr KK Chan, Chief Secretary of HKSAR.
Now in its 44th year, the Student of the Year Awards remains one of the city’s most prestigious platforms for honouring youth excellence - a legacy reflected in the record-breaking number of nominations we received.
Anchored in this year’s theme, “Building Tomorrow: Growth Through Action”, the ceremony spotlighted the critical importance of proactive community engagement as a catalyst for wider societal innovation, mindset change and measurable progress.
Against this inspiring backdrop, we were proud to unveil the Growth Network, a pioneering initiative designed to offer all award nominees privileged access to career exploration programmes, professional resources and dynamic networking opportunities with top companies in Hong Kong and beyond.
Overall, the ceremony was a true celebration of leadership, creativity, academic excellence and community service, reminding us of the boundless potential and promise that lives within Hong Kong’s next generation.
Nominations for the 2025/2026 Student of the Year Awards will open in early 2026.
